THE FARM
Elms Farm consists of arable fields and pasture, on which we stock 300 breeding ewes. We also have a VERY friendly sheep dogs - Blue and her daughter, Sky,who loves to play with anyone.
If you visit us during late March and most of April you will more than likely find us in the middle of the lambing season. We endeavour to allow the sheep to give birth as naturally as possible but occasionally they need a helping hand so you will quite often find that we have a shed converted to a maternity unit for about six weeks of the year. You are welcome to look on and see what it is all about but be warned – it can get very messy!!!.
The sheep shearing usually takes place in June. This is when we have a few extra members of the household as the New Zealand shearers settle in to the district for about three months. If we are not shearing we can usually find out where they are if you would like to see how it is done.
